He has a lovely face which made me smile while working on him. I have surrounded the Bear with gold Tila beads and brown pearl cup chain. Below is a bronze button with an ethnic patterned ceramic drop below. Further beaded with bronze feather drops and a mix of Picasso beads. Bears make wonderful Totems representing strength, family, vitality and courage. A truly striking piece for any Bear lover.</p><p>For sale in my Etsy shop <span face="Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif" style="background-color: #6e7577; color: white; font-size: 13.2px; text-align: center;"> </span><a href="https://www.etsy.com/au/shop/RosemaryBJewellery" style="background-color: #6e7577; color: #7fffff; font-family: arial, tahoma, helvetica, freesans, sans-serif; font-size: 13.2px; text-align: center; text-decoration-line: none;">www.etsy.com/au/shop/RosemaryBJewellery</a></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPvI0o9dJTmkqvZ1OXr79068mhfA-7hflwJWsz5NcIBmVCx2IqTDSF9SWDfuvba9sUiYXGUD9n-Qbg-ccoLQzSB_BggB8kjcb_0VdxJZBAUILcaThOigkpRRTCgCBPwWtUcGQ20EtuiPocbSbOAzYaXjXTnpBToa404QODOm-tQjkDSlwLHcdlt2cK/s4134/IMG_20220804_121304%20(2).jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4134" data-original-width="3048" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPvI0o9dJTmkqvZ1OXr79068mhfA-7hflwJWsz5NcIBmVCx2IqTDSF9SWDfuvba9sUiYXGUD9n-Qbg-ccoLQzSB_BggB8kjcb_0VdxJZBAUILcaThOigkpRRTCgCBPwWtUcGQ20EtuiPocbSbOAzYaXjXTnpBToa404QODOm-tQjkDSlwLHcdlt2cK/w295-h400/IMG_20220804_121304%20(2).jpg" width="295" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><p><br style="background-color: #6e7577; color: white; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13.2px; text-align: left;" /></p></div>Rosemary B Hollandhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03370379049082113874noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7263938364812496864.post-89688196260319561682022-08-19T15:09:00.005+10:002022-08-19T15:56:30.604+10:00Sleeping Squirrel Bead Embroidered Necklace.<p> This gorgeous sleeping Squirrel is made from Polymer clay and looks right at home surrounded by glass leaves and flowers with a pretty Maligano Jasper Jasper below. It was such a joy to bead a subject I have so much passion for. I am a real Wildlife Warrior brought up in Africa and am appalled at the senseless shooting of Elephants for trophies. Imagine a world without Elephants for future generations to admire. Or Rhinos for that matter - any wild animal is sacred as far as I'm concerned. We have no right to take their lives for sport or some silly misguided idea Rhino horn is a medicine. A really dumb notion.</p><p>I hope you enjoy my new creation as much as I enjoyed making it. My next subject will be an African Elephant now that I know how to go about the process of beading an object.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiddrcYavJQmwOTUO7Ge_UBozkrGZ3g2bw-WSK2_nqfwejXtFRlAVpuCBRcgw0s2VstoMFYshXRxSGqTkoOYKTsxtD4vzkW6JG5gxF4-mCY3dsKxEb8jB8Qe86fTCjxz6zj_evpqDx1HZZ7jNsjFI5c3RY2_78l5FJj9YMw9RSCWIs6NySW9NzUpeTX/s4160/IMG_20220322_123823%20(2).jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4160" data-original-width="3120" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiddrcYavJQmwOTUO7Ge_UBozkrGZ3g2bw-WSK2_nqfwejXtFRlAVpuCBRcgw0s2VstoMFYshXRxSGqTkoOYKTsxtD4vzkW6JG5gxF4-mCY3dsKxEb8jB8Qe86fTCjxz6zj_evpqDx1HZZ7jNsjFI5c3RY2_78l5FJj9YMw9RSCWIs6NySW9NzUpeTX/w300-h400/IMG_20220322_123823%20(2).jpg" width="300" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgSKjiECy7ebyYFVzDAep9TUsj3XNmQx2y6Q1tYGFrfcYlaOgM6wm2g3lypu9KrdfTixQjx-jEk4lcfvT1XrEL9VTd-4ttl2QKlFF6yTI2yBRdL3Ggeh7K7wfUJKUw59ucSbN8B9_g1IB58-6iZDN2vHtlaqLUeNBy6Pq2WYmdmZlmn2_3Lz7YvI-R/s4160/IMG_20220322_123906.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4160" data-original-width="3120" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgSKjiECy7ebyYFVzDAep9TUsj3XNmQx2y6Q1tYGFrfcYlaOgM6wm2g3lypu9KrdfTixQjx-jEk4lcfvT1XrEL9VTd-4ttl2QKlFF6yTI2yBRdL3Ggeh7K7wfUJKUw59ucSbN8B9_g1IB58-6iZDN2vHtlaqLUeNBy6Pq2WYmdmZlmn2_3Lz7YvI-R/w300-h400/IMG_20220322_123906.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2j0HsHGBdtRIxIBM6a6dPYBSRBWp_u3TUU955wCW5XoGtSzhmWQmc2Q_zdipEH50BVNQ_hkX5ERF6pCHr7TMSUCBw0UXZ5UF1O7vvg9odVIhrD78xn51SDs0f3ZBUBxEouaoYb4wCDr5vr5GOTJ4n34HUjtTFzK8Zo_r2MfM5CaFjVjNYuEQIaWTR/s4160/IMG_20220322_124017.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4160" data-original-width="3120" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2j0HsHGBdtRIxIBM6a6dPYBSRBWp_u3TUU955wCW5XoGtSzhmWQmc2Q_zdipEH50BVNQ_hkX5ERF6pCHr7TMSUCBw0UXZ5UF1O7vvg9odVIhrD78xn51SDs0f3ZBUBxEouaoYb4wCDr5vr5GOTJ4n34HUjtTFzK8Zo_r2MfM5CaFjVjNYuEQIaWTR/w300-h400/IMG_20220322_124017.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p><p><br /></p>Rosemary B Hollandhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03370379049082113874noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7263938364812496864.post-82990232331781141942021-10-02T13:01:00.003+10:002022-08-19T15:59:42.669+10:00Bear Totem Bead Embroidered Necklace.<p> A sweet Bear made of polymer clay together with a variety of cabochon gemstones such as Chrysocolla, Carnelian and a Striking Jasper make this a lovely Totem piece. I have included many elements relating to Africa in this piece. A lovely young woman featured in a glass cabochon with her colourful head dress set into a copper frame is the centre piece with many elements to compliment the African theme. I have used animal print and leather for the background fabric. Other elements include porcupine quill tips, rhinestones, stone cabochons, metal animal print cabochons and a variety of beads. A lovely wooden drop bead hangs below.</p><p>For sale in my Etsy shop <a href="https://www.etsy.com/au/shop/RosemaryBJewellery" style="background-color: #6e7577; color: #7fffff; font-family: arial, tahoma, helvetica, freesans, sans-serif; font-size: 13.2px; text-decoration-line: none;">https://www.etsy.com/au/shop/RosemaryBJewellery</a></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQdiaUJ82tKqEfg7dF69eXLMe4vWZxrF6lQYkwKZaK_7ysVqmpEOaVz3M-hWPx_1tWY96PJ5IpV2ErXkGPG_ceC2ZXZOARNUdJ5t8XNQQEZvMoAI0FWRobAGvS_uiAkJADAQm_bAkGsWg/s2048/Africa+dreaming+B.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1448" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQdiaUJ82tKqEfg7dF69eXLMe4vWZxrF6lQYkwKZaK_7ysVqmpEOaVz3M-hWPx_1tWY96PJ5IpV2ErXkGPG_ceC2ZXZOARNUdJ5t8XNQQEZvMoAI0FWRobAGvS_uiAkJADAQm_bAkGsWg/w453-h640/Africa+dreaming+B.jpg" width="453" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><br /></td></tr></tbody></table><br /><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiCnjI9p9MSgkedCrakK2KFUDJi-b9Ujusx4yRkC4K4ItdIvol1ykcBJcGALWO83WZdEiTqvlNt3-R-9-6VKa3zwboTT58Nt1ZWYzzXPVVtmABqhhosYmlNztSmTFRSLWrfoduKIyx1pU/s2048/Africa+Dreaming+C.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1383" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiCnjI9p9MSgkedCrakK2KFUDJi-b9Ujusx4yRkC4K4ItdIvol1ykcBJcGALWO83WZdEiTqvlNt3-R-9-6VKa3zwboTT58Nt1ZWYzzXPVVtmABqhhosYmlNztSmTFRSLWrfoduKIyx1pU/w270-h400/Africa+Dreaming+C.jpg" width="270" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><p></p><br />Rosemary B Hollandhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03370379049082113874noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7263938364812496864.post-78817733470910086412020-08-18T12:47:00.006+10:002020-08-18T13:04:57.777+10:00Beaded Giraffe Pendant Style Necklace.<p> My love of African wildlife is well known so it is no surprise I have now made a necklace with a beautiful Giraffe glass cabochon. The animal print wooden beads and leather cord finish it off beautifully.</p><p>For sale in my Etsy shop <span face="" style="background-color: #6e7577; color: white; font-family: arial, tahoma, helvetica, freesans, sans-serif; font-size: 13.2px;"> </span><a href="https://www.etsy.com/au/shop/RosemaryBJewellery" style="background-color: #6e7577; color: #7fffff; font-family: arial, tahoma, helvetica, freesans, sans-serif; font-size: 13.2px; text-decoration-line: none;">https://www.etsy.com/au/shop/RosemaryBJewellery</a></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br style="background-color: #6e7577; color: white; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13.2px;" /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhM_OQXVM7kr63b0LE2KnYCNlvGy-W8_I1eiyegqYLpGXmPForGvmqo2CvCeuIvxDr-qOrO7t4lAhslsHtMhT7bcNp8XRJK2-Utl5_KflmGJ9hhNdGva7NuLPkFTFQALozrEzlr8Kcj0P4/s2048/20200817_124917+%25282%2529.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhM_OQXVM7kr63b0LE2KnYCNlvGy-W8_I1eiyegqYLpGXmPForGvmqo2CvCeuIvxDr-qOrO7t4lAhslsHtMhT7bcNp8XRJK2-Utl5_KflmGJ9hhNdGva7NuLPkFTFQALozrEzlr8Kcj0P4/w300-h400/20200817_124917+%25282%2529.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><p><br /></p>Rosemary B Hollandhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03370379049082113874noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7263938364812496864.post-45390333366128683772020-05-11T17:01:00.007+10:002020-09-19T16:43:42.966+10:00Raven Pendant Style Necklace.I really enjoyed making this Raven beaded necklace. The strong colours of blues and red make this a fairly dramatic piece. The Raven is surrounded by his treasures of Trilobites, stones and flowers. Hanging from a leather plaited cord with accent beads.<br />
The Raven is a symbol of conspiracy with the Universe and all the magic that it holds.<br />

The sea shells which I found on our local beach where I live in lovely Hallidays Point are smaller than in the design so I had to do a lot of filling in with bead embroidery and components. I enjoyed the challenge of something completely different and am pleased with the result.<br />
The variety of pearls go from coin pearls to Swarovski pearls and tiny 2mm potato pearls along the neckline in varying colours of gold, white and soft beige. The Seahorse is surrounded by Rhinestones giving the piece a lovely glitter with movement.<br />

The title for the challenge was A Day At The Sea. Also winning first place and Standard of Excellence at the Royal Sydney Show.<br />
I love working with these colours as can be seen by a previous collar called The Reef. The freeform bead embroidery gives one scope to be creative and use interesting components. The turtle charm is made of copper with a green patina. I think he is very happy in his new home in the waves!<br />
The background painting is by my talented husband Chris.<br />

Not only is she an amazing Bead Artist and teacher but a wonderful person. I came away feeling both inspired and privileged to have spent time with her.<br />
I asked to make a Totem piece on my first day and here it is. I just love it. The lioness representing strength and my upbringing in Africa. The best days of my life ! It's very light and easy to wear and a lovely reminder of Heidi whose work is my sole inspiration for taking up bead embroidery. Her total connection to nature is something I admire and aspire to.<br />
Heidi here with Spirit. A wolf hybrid. Spirit often pops in for a visit. I was lucky to be there on this occasion. Such a beautiful animal.<br />

This collar is called the Rainforest which won First and Standard of Excellence at the Royal Sydney Show in 2014. Being a nature lover I find the diversity of the Australian land and sea scapes truly beautiful and inspiring. This is a very complex piece and a challenge I enjoyed. It has various beading stitches incorporated into the bead embroidery.<br />

traditional beading techniques to create contemporary beaded artworks. They
have developed an international reputation and have produced a number of major
commissions all executed in hand sewn beadwork. The first of these was for the
refurbished<span> </span>Durban Playhouse foyer in
2005. Completed in 10 weeks by nine artists each making a panel which, when
collectively installed measured 30 square metres representing aspects of the
arts and culture taking place in the playhouse. This was a triumphant example
of creative collaboration synthesizing the skills of rural women in
contemporary vision.</span></div>

the Royal herd of the King, and a rural Zulu village is the subject. The
mottled patterning of the Nguni cattle herd rendered in glass beads, which
themselves were traded for centuries as currency, is madew up of ten panels

We had an amazing trip to the Middle East taking in the UAE, Jordan, Syria and Iran. I bought this lovely very old hand beaten silver Bedouin necklace in Jordan. The painting is from Esfahan, Iran. We watched an artist paint it with a cat's hair. It can be seen better with a magnifying glass where you can see the fine detail which is outstanding.<br />

There are 108 beads on a Mala which is a sacred number and simplistically this relates to the 12 astrological houses multiplied by the nine planets of the solar system.<br />
